Maximum precipitation

The maximum precipitation observed world-wide is bound upwards by an enveloppe curve like:

$$R = 425 * D^{0.47}$$

where

$R$ = maximum recorded rainfall depth in [mm]

$D$ = duration of rainfall in [hours]

Example:

$$R(3) = 425*24^{0.47} = 712 mm$$
